PACC: Safe Risks vs. Unsafe Risks
Camp is all about adventure, growth, and stepping outside your comfort zone—but not all risks are the same. Some risks help campers learn, build confidence, and have fun, while others can lead to unsafe situations. Knowing the difference between a safe, staff-led risk and an unsafe, peer-pressure-driven risk is key to ensuring you make the most of your camp experience.

Hey Camp Greenville: The History Behind Camp’s Thomas Parker Lodge
Today, we’re taking a trip back in time as we explore the history of our beloved lodge—a place that has stood the test of time, holding countless camp memories within its walls. And we have a very special guest joining us—Cory Harrison, camp’s Vice President of Overnight Camping. Let’s step into the past together!
For generations, the lodge has been the heart of camp—where friendships are forged, stories are shared, and traditions are passed down from one summer to the next. Built with sturdy hands and a vision for community, its walls have witnessed so many great things. But how did this iconic building come to be, and what secrets does it hold?
In today’s episode, we’ll uncover the origins of the lodge and the incredible events that made it happen. Cory will take us through it’s history as well as the history of the men who helped create the foundation of Camp Greenville. Whether you’ve spent summers at camp or you’re hearing about it for the first time, this episode is sure to deepen your appreciation for one of camp’s most treasured places.

PACC: The Importance of Conflict Resolution at Camp
Camp is a place where you can meet new friends, enjoy fun activities, and make memories that last a lifetime. But just like anywhere else, disagreements can happen. You might have a small argument over a game, feel frustrated if a cabinmate borrows something without asking, or even feel left out at times. By learning to manage disagreements in a positive way, campers will not only have a more enjoyable summer but will also gain important social skills that last a lifetime.
De-Quan Williams Accepts New Position at NC Camp
De-Quan "DQ" Williams, our Director of Leadership Programs, has accepted a new position at a YMCA camp in North Carolina. While this transition will leave a huge hole in our Camp Greenville community, we are excited for DQ to explore a new chapter in his own leadership path.

History of the Thomas Parker Lodge
At YMCA Camp Greenville, the lodge is more than just a building—it’s a time capsule of history and adventure. When it was built, Uncle Johnny Holmes, the legendary camp director, led a worldwide letter-writing campaign with campers, asking people from across the globe to send artifacts to be placed in its walls. The response was incredible. Among the treasures hidden within Parker Lodge are an ancient piece of Solomon’s Temple, a letter from Mahatma Gandhi, and even a section of the White House roof.

PACC: Lifelong Friendships at Camp
Camp is more than just a place to try new activities, explore the great outdoors, and create unforgettable memories—it’s also a unique opportunity to build lifelong friendships. There’s something special about spending days filled with adventure, laughter, and teamwork that creates strong bonds between campers. If you’re heading to camp this summer, here’s why it’s the perfect place to make friends and some easy ways to start conversations with your fellow campers.

PACC: Understanding Your Emotions
Camp can be an amazing experience filled with fun activities, new friends, and unforgettable memories. But if this is your camper’s first time going to camp, they may be feeling a mix of emotions—excited, nervous, happy, or even a little unsure. Guess what? That’s totally normal! Understanding emotions and knowing how to handle them can help you and your camper have a great camp experience.
