Base Camp

Base Camp is our one week traditional program that offers a well-balanced schedule of activities to suit the interests of any camper. The morning is spent participating in activity rotations with their cabin and in the afternoon during "Truddy Time" campers can choose which activities they participate in. Base campers are in cabins in grade-group based divisions.

Divisions- the grade rising IN to Fall 2024

Division 1

Rising in to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

Stayover available only to those with an older sibling also on stayover

Division 2

Rising in to 5th and 6th

Stayover available to campers attending consecutive weeks

Division 3

Rising in to 7th, 8th, and 9th

Stayover available to campers attending consecutive weeks

Division 4

Rising in to 10, 11th, and 12th

Stayover available to campers attending consecutive weeks

Each division has programs and activities suitable for that grade group. This offers the best "all round" camping experience to create fun, exciting and memorable time that will have a profound impact on any young persons life.

To be in the same cabin, campers must be in the same division not necessarily grade (ie; a 7th and 8th grader can be in a cabin together. A 6th and 7th grader can not)

Morning Activities

Tuesday-Friday mornings are Camper Choice Time! A list of 8-12 options are given at lunch and campers decide what they want to participate in. They travel in groups of 3 or more to the different staff or LDP led activities. The group of 3+ campers is called a “Truddy”. There are staff assigned to be “land lifeguards'“ stationed around camp property to make sure kids can find activities and assist with any problems that may arise. Campers can rotate to as many or as few activities as they would like which we encourage. This helps campers learn autonomy of choice which is a great life skill.

The goals for activities are to make them interesting and fun for the camper, develop and refine skills in the activity area, and encourage campers to set goals and challenge themselves.

An example of a morning camper choice schedule is as follows including the camp store

  • Open swim

  • Rock Throwing

  • Tie Dye

  • Water zip

  • Outdoor cooking

  • Nature center

  • Various clubs (fort build, fairy party, skits, etc)

Please note: The activities that are available each day vary to keep it new and interesting. Division age requirements apply for some camper choice time activities.

Afternoon Activities

After rest hour, campers rotate through activities with their cabin group. Schedules are planned by camp leadership but also allow room for the counselors and campers to schedule in their own fun as a group consensus. Both give the cabin group the chance to enjoy each other and cultivate friendships.

Every division will have the opportunity to take part in multiple hikes including our signature waterfalls (Rainbow Falls and Showerbath), have a free swim at the waterfront, enjoy 1-2 counselor led activities, and work together to complete the requirements for “Cabin of Excellence”. Please see the list below for additional activities that each division has schedule for 1 of the 8 afternoon time blocks.

  • D1: indoor rock climbing, target sports, animal center, arts and crafts

  • D2: zip line, archery, arts and crafts,

  • D3: high ropes level 1, riflery, paddle sports, hatchet throwing

  • D4: paddle sports, high ropes level 2, shooting sports

Please note: the list above is a division schedule. It does not list the only activities that are available to a campers division.

Evening Activities

Each night there is a program for the interaction of the cabin group, the division group, or the entire camp. Some nights offer events for small group bonding with the others in a camper’s cabin. Other nights bring the entire camp together as one large family: talent shows; group games like Capture the Flag or Revenuers & Moonshiners; or fun filled campfires with songs, skits, sharing and special memories. Finally, the last part of each camper’s day is spent in the cabin just before lights out. This time is used for campers and counselors to go over the days events or discuss topics of interest. Inspirational vespers help put closure to the end of each camper’s day and adds a very special meaning to camp for everyone.

  • Sundays: Opening Campfire

  • Mondays: All camp game and Chapel

  • Tuesdays: D3/D4 packout, D1/D2 combined evening program

  • Wednesdays: D2 packout, D1 and D3/D4 separate evening program

  • Thursdays: D1 packout, D2/D3 combined and D4 separate evening program

  • Fridays: Camper show and Closing Campfire

  • Saturday: Pajama Jam
