YMCA Camp Greenville
Summer Camp Policies & Procedures
(Updated September 2026)
By registering for a summer camper session at YMCA Camp Greenville, you AND your camper agree to the following Policies & Procedures:
Payment, Cancellation, & Refunds Policies
Initial Deposit
A deposit of $200 per camper, per session is due at the time of registration to hold your child's place for their selected session and program. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. The paid deposit for one camper cannot be applied to another camper, nor can the paid deposit be used in subsequent camp seasons/years.
If for whatever reason your payment method is declined at time of registration, your registration status will be designated "Applied" instead of "Enrolled" for the desired session & program. While in Applied status, your camper's space will be held temporarily for up to 48 hours; you must add a new payment method via your Parent Portal, and then contact camper_services@ymcagreenville.org to request manual enrollment.
Balance Due & Payment Plans
Those who do not pay in full at the time of registration will be automatically placed on a payment plan that will begin the month following registration, and will withdrawal funds (divided by number of payments left) on the second Monday of every month following registration and through March 8, 2027.
Adjustments to payment plans because of extenuating circumstances may be requested by contacting camper_services@ymcagreenville.org and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. All payment plans will conclude by March 8, 2027.
Any balances left unpaid after March 8, 2027 (regardless of reason) will result in registration cancellation without refund. Our communications team will attempt to reach you via your communication methods on file prior to cancellation to attempt to rectify your account.
New registrants after March 8, 2027 will have 48 hours to remit full payment, submit the Financial Assistance application & materials (after paying the $200 non-refundable deposit immediately upon registration), OR reach out to our communications team about an alternative payment plan. If one of these steps is not completed within 48 hours, the registration will be cancelled without refund.
Refund Policy
At any time, if you realize you must cancel, you are required to notify the camp office in writing via email to camper_services@ymcagreenville.org , and if also requesting a refund, you must include any relevant information that could be used to determine refund eligibility. All requests will be considered against our refund timeline as outlined below, and using any details provided by the requester; Camp Greenville reserves the right to refuse providing a refund for any reason.
At no time are paid funds transferable from one camp season to another, or one camper to another. If your camper is registered for multiple weeks and you cancel one of their enrollments, the deposit of the cancelled week is non-refundable, non-transferable, and does not go towards your overall balance.
Before January 11, 2027, cancelled camper sessions are 100% refundable minus the non-refundable, non-transferable $200 deposit. Please request a cancellation as outlined above.
Between January 11, 2027 and March 8, 2027, cancelled camper sessions will be refunded at a rate of 50% of program fees paid to date, minus the non-refundable, non-transferable $200 deposit. Please request a cancellation as outlined above.
After March 8, 2027, absolutely no refunds will be provided for any reason.
If, at any time, a refund is requested in such a way that does not represent our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility as determined by Camp Greenville's Executive Director, no refund will be provided. Refunds are provided at the discretion of the Executive Director.
Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance is available on a first-come, first-service basis. Candidate must create an account via the Parent Portal, then register their camper for their desired session and pay the initial $200 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit to secure their spot. At this time, you will automatically be enrolled in monthly payment withdrawals covering tuition as described in the “Balance Due & Payment Plans” section of this policy guide. Failure to pay the initial $200 deposit or declined payment will not allow you to complete the Financial Assistance process or being considered for Financial Assistance.
After registering, two forms will populate in the “Forms & Documents” section of the Parent Portal - “Financial Assistance Request” and “Financial Assistance Documentation”. Both of these forms must be completed in full in order to be considered for Financial Assistance. Once these forms are completed and submitted, your application will be considered and you will be contacted regarding any assistance awarded. You are responsible for any remaining funds not covered by the awarded aid.
Returned/Rejected Payments
There will be a $25.00 fee applied to accounts for all instances of the declination of echecks, credit cards, or any other attempted and failed payments to Camp Greenville. A valid bank echeck or credit card payment method and completed payment of the original declined payment is required to continue to secure the selected session(s). Non-payment after 48 hours following the payment decline will result in enrollment cancellation. New payments methods can be added and payments can be made at any time via the Financial section of the Parent Registration Portal. When adding a new payment method after a failed payment, you must then manually pay the missed payment amount to avoid enrollment withdrawal (this is not conducted automatically after the initial draft).
Camp Store Funds
Once camp store funds are deposited into a camper's account, they cannot be refunded, returned, or transferred. All camp store balances must be spent by campers during their enrolled session at camp, including check-in & check-out time. Any remaining funds after check-out will be unavailable to use.
A note about CampStamps: CampStamps are available to purchase via the Parent Portal. CampStamps are used to add decorative elements to emails (Letters) you send to your camper through the Campanion app. CampStamps ARE NOT Camp Store funds. CampStamps are also NOT required to send Letters to your camper. CampStamp funds are paid directly to Campminder, and are non-refundable. Visit the Parent Portal for more information about CampStamps.
Session & Timing Policies
Session Transfer
If unexpected circumstances arise requiring a change in registration dates, you may reach out to camper_services@ymcagreenville.org to request a session transfer. Please review what sessions may still be available first by visiting your Parent Portal and starting a camper application. Session transfers are subject to availability, are not guaranteed, and are handled in the order received.
Session Stayover
If your camper is enrolled in two or more subsequent sessions (i.e S1 & S2, or S5 & S6) you may select the “stayover weekend” option and pay the additional fee to have your camper stay the weekend instead of picking them up on Saturday and dropping them off the next day (Sunday) for their next session. Stayover weekend is available between every scheduled session and is $200 per camper. Adding the Stayover Weekend option includes laundry service for your camper and a laundry bag (laundry is usually collected on Friday and returned to the camper on Saturday).
Stayover weekend is only available to campers in Division 2, 3, and 4 who are attending consecutive weeks of camp. Campers in Division 1 may attend if they have an older sibling is also attending stayover weekend. If you have a Division 1 camper who would like to attend stayover with their older sibling, please contact our communications team at camper_services@ymcagreenville.org to add this to your registration.
This can include multiple weeks of adventure, multiple weeks of base camp, or a combination of adventure and base camp. Programs that are already two weeks long (Monk’s Trip, Outback) do not need to additionally add stayover as it is already implicit in the program.
You may not utilize the stayover option to stay from one session through a weekend only, or from a weekend through one session only, as there is no procedure for Sunday pick-up or Saturday drop-off.
Parents who are picking up one child but have the other child doing stayover on Saturday will not see the child in stayover due to the logistics of Saturday camper pick-up/Weekend Stayover. Stayover campers will be in a different location & and engaged in other activities on property versus all other campers being picked up on Saturday.
A note on stayover: Due to the nature of our programming, we recommend starting only staying over two back-to-back weeks of camp, taking a break, and then returning at a different point in the summer if participation on additional sessions is desired. Certain elements of programming may change week-to-week, while other functional components may stay the same each week.
Check-In & Check-Out
Check-In/Drop-Off for both single and multi-week sessions is on the Sunday of their session. The gates open at 2:30 p.m. and check-in ends at 4:00 PM. Programming begins at 4:00 p.m. Parents with a registered camper may begin lining up starting at the Rotary Lake gate entrance prior to this time. While cabins are assigned and provided to parents prior to their camper’s session via email, individual bunks are not assigned; bunks are first-come, first serve after campers are checked-in at their cabin AND their health checks have been performed. Camper will not be permitted to enter the cabin to choose their bunk until they have checked-in with a staff member at their cabin and had their health check cleared.
Health checks are performed by each camper prior to cabin entry. Health checks include a lice check, and may include other communicable disease health checks as designated by the camp directors. Any camper found to have evidence of lice and/or communicable disease will need to speak with the camp health team to walk through next steps which may require leaving camp.
Check-Out/Pick-Up is the Saturday of your child’s (last) session. The gates open at 9:00 AM, and check-out ends at 9:45am. If your camper is attending multiple weeks and you are would like them to stay over camp in between sessions, you must register for and pay the fee for the stayover weekend option that spans those two sessions (see the “Session Stayover” section for more information)
Late Arrivals and Early Departures
We do not allow early or late check-in or check-out.
We’ve specifically designed the start and end of the week to support smooth transitions into camp and from camp back into home life. If your camper cannot arrive/depart during the scheduled times, we are happy to attempt to transfer your camper to another session when they can fully participate in the program.
If an unexpected emergency makes it absolutely unavoidable for your camper to arrive or leave outside of the scheduled times, you must contact our camp office immediately, and we will advise you regarding next steps, which may include facilitating your camper's session cancellation or transfer, or additional fees. You are making the commitment to attend Camp Greenville when you register with us, and we ask that you plan your registered camper sessions accordingly and to the best of your ability so that they do not overlap with any other potential activities that may take place throughout the summer. Just as with any other service-based business, Camp Greenville is not required to offer refunds when unexpected sporting events, awards, opportunities, etc. may suddenly take precedence for your family over your camper's registered session.
If a camper is checked out from camp for any reason, they may not return to finish any days that may remain during their session, and no refund will be provided. Any early/late departures or arrivals, should they occur, will result in a $150 fee applied to the campers account and charged to the default payment method on file.
Camper & Parent Policies
Camper & Parent Behavior Agreement
At YMCA Camp Greenville, we offer a high standard of care and experiences, and we subsequently have high expectations regarding the behavior of our campers, parents, and other guests to YCG. Accordingly, we have created a Camper Behavior Agreement that we ask all campers and parents to review. Parents & campers acknowledge their commitment to follow this agreement through their participation with our camp.
Parents: Please review all sections of the information below with your camper. Consider printing out this agreement, discussing, and signing the document together with your camper to acknowledge your mutual agreement and commitment to following these guidelines.
Participants in any YMCA Camp Greenville activity agree to:
Treat other campers, staff, and themselves with kindness and respect.
Respect others’ personal space, belongings, and privacy.
Respect differences in others, be a team player, and be inclusive.
Leave all cell phones or other connected devices at home.
Use appropriate language and behavior at all times and NEVER bully, tease, or exclude others.
Cooperate with fellow campers, cabin leaders, and staff.
Be engaged in the camp schedule and activities and have timely attendance for all activities and meals.
Remain in the cabin between lights-out and morning wake-up, respecting quiet hours in the cabin from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Take care of camp equipment and help keep all areas clean.
Stay with their group and ask permission before going anywhere and take a truddy (group of three people) everywhere.
Follow all camp rules and instructions from staff at all times.
While attending YMCA Camp Greenville, both campers and parents understand that they are expected to follow these guidelines and demonstrate the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility at all times. Any camper, parent, or other guest to YMCA Camp Greenville who cannot follow these guidelines and any other rules and regulations of camp may be dismissed from the camp program without refund.
Camper & Parent Acknowledgment
By attending their enrolled session at YMCA Camp Greenville, each camper agrees that they have read and understand the expectations as laid out in the Camper Behavior Agreement and commit to following these guidelines and demonstrating their best behavior throughout their week at camp.
By enrolling their camper at YMCA Camp Greenville, each parent agrees that they had read and understand the expectations as laid out in the Camper Behavior Agreement, commit to following these guidelines and demonstrating their best behavior while interacting with camp in any way, discussing and ensuring understanding of this Camper Behavior Agreement with their enrolled camper(s), and abiding by any action taken by YMCA Camp Greenville in response to their camper or themselves breaking this agreement, up to and including dismissal without refund.
Camper Behavior Management
All camper behavior management is implemented with care and respect by our staff. There are some times when a campers behavior distracts from the overall experience of the cabin group by requiring excessive one-on-one attention from staff. In commitment to the success and enjoyment of camp by each camper, our procedure for redirecting challenging behavior is as follows (deviating or expediting as is required by the specific situation and details):
Step 1. Cabin/Trip Leaders will speak about specific undesirable behavior with the camper and together make a verbal corrective plan for success. The cabin Leader will inform their Division Leader about the situation, verbal agreement, and behavior monitoring steps.
Step 2. If the behavior continues, the Cabin/Trip leader will alert the Division Leader, and the Division Leader will have a conversation with the camper in which a documented plan for change will be implementd. The Division Leader will then notify the relevant camp director(s), who will reach out to parents regarding the situation and the approaches utilized, and discuss further steps/advisement.
Step 3. If the behavior continues after this point, the relevant camp director(s) will immediately be notified, the camper will be removed from their program and brought to the camp office, and the camp director(s) will contact the parent to arrange immediate pick-up for the camper. No refund will be issued for dismissal.
When campers are dismissed from camp for behavior, it is for the well-being and safety of the whole group, or as a logical consequence for continued inappropriate behavior.
Situations warranting immediate dismissal from the camp program include, but are not limited to:
Physical violence
Possessing any prohibited substance
Theft
Emotional, physical, spiritual, or any other abuse or bullying of another camper
Dismissals
Camp Greenville reserves the right to dismiss a camper, without refund, from their session in-progress at any time, for any reason, up to and including:
Behavioral Issues (see Camper Behavioral Management section for more details)
Health Concerns, including but not limited to: the camper introducing a communicable condition to camp (such as suspected viral/bacterial infection, rash, or lice), or unforeseen health conditions which hinder the camper’s experience or require medical attention beyond the reasonable scope of camp’s Health Hut.
Sustained Injury that requires medical attention beyond the reasonable scope of camp’s Health Hut.
Decision to Leave: although Camp Greenville staff will make every effort to ensure a camper has a positive experience, if a camper decides that their camp experience must end, camp staff will contact parents to arrange for pickup.
Cabin Assignments & Cabinmate Requests
Each camper may request up to 2 friends to be bunked (in the same cabin) with. We make every effort to honor cabinmate requests, but they are not guaranteed.
Cabinmates can only be placed together if they are registered for the same program and session, are of the same gender and division, AND only if they have ALL mutually requested one another. We recommend connecting with the parents of the camper(s) you would like your camper to bunk with to coordinate requests.
Cabins are otherwise assigned by session, program, division, and gender, and larger programs may be spread across multiple cabins. We unfortunately cannot accommodate requests for specific cabin placement or cabin leaders.
Cabinmate requests may be added or updated via the registration platform up until 2 weeks prior to a camper’s session.
We make every effort to honor cabinmate requests that follow these guidelines, while also actively encouraging new friendships through promoting fresh connections & community living.
NOTE: Any instances of large cabinmate request "chains", "trains", or "circles" requests will not be honored. Only campers who ALL mutually request one another will be honored. If you have not been placed with your expected bunkmates, check in with the parents of your requested bunkmates to ensure they mutually requested your camper.
Camper-Parent Communication
At camp, communication between parents & campers is one-way — by dropping off mail & packages at check-in, sending mail, or sending a Letter (email) through the Campanion app.
Drop-Off Mail
The best way to ensure your camper gets mail is to drop letters or packages off on check-in/drop-off day. Care packages are welcomed, but we highly discourage food (if sending food items, please be sensitive to common allergies; note that we are a peanut & nut-free camp).
During check-in, we will collect mail for delivery each day of the week (Monday-Friday; NO SUNDAY OR SATURDAY DELIVERY). Please label each piece of mail with your child’s name, session, day you would like it delivered, & cabin name (you will receive cabin name information in the week before check-in).
Snail Mail
Traditional snail mail is an option, but be aware that it can take 4 – 6 days for mail to arrive at camp, or reach home from camp. If sending traditional postal mail, please label each item accordingly:
Child’s Name
Session # and Cabin Name
YMCA Camp Greenville
4399 YMCA Camp Road
Cleveland, SC 29635
Emails
One-way emails (from you to your camper) can be sent by via the Campanion app. These are called Letters and can be sent at any time. Letters are printed each morning starting Monday at 10:00 AM, and are delivered during lunchtime. No emails sent after 10:00 AM on Friday may be delivered.
NOTE: Adventure campers will ONLY receive snail mail & emails on Mondays and Fridays as they are away on their trip the remainder of the week. Any check-in mail will be carried with Trip Leader and distributed accordingly.
Should an emergency situation arise, camper-parent communication is handled on a case-by-case basis.
You may not send your child with a cell phone to camp; if found with a cellphone or other communication device, the device will be confiscated until pick-up. Note that while we have a standard phone line for business calls & emergencies, your child will not be able to call you, and you will not be able to call your camper directly. The only exception to this rule is for campers traveling by airline and being picked up by camp staff (the appropriate form and fees must be completed in this instance, and you must contact us if your camper is coming with a cell phone; the cell phone will be taken and kept in the camp office after check-in and until check-out) and for select Leadership Development Program & Service Corps participants, during select times and instances.
LDP Cell Phone Policy
Cell Phone Policies for each particular level of the LDP program & Service Corps volunteers are in effect during the attendee’s registered/accepted LDP session(s) and Service Corps session(s). During Stayover weekends and when LDPs also attend D4 base or Adventure programs, cell phones (possession of and use) are not allowed at any time. Phones may be securely kept in the camp office for the duration of these program periods.
Sophomore LDPs
No phones will be used or be in the possession of Sophomore LDPs. Phones may be securely kept in the camp office for the duration of the program.
Junior LDPs
Phones brought to camp will be securely kept in the camp office and will be given to Junior LDPs for use during their scheduled break times. Availability will be at the discretion of the camp directors.
Senior LDPs
Senior LDPs will receive training about appropriate phone usage while on-the-job. Phones are permitted for Senior LDP use with the understanding that excessive or inappropriate phone usage will result in escalating disciplinary action up to and including loss of phone priviledges.
Service Corps Volunteers
Phones brought to camp will be securely kept in the camp office and will be given to Service Corps participants for use during their scheduled break times. Availability will be at the discretion of the camp directors.
Dress Code
At Camp Greenville we want all campers to be able to express and be themselves. This self-expression can manifest through clothing choices, cabin bunk decor, pins on a backpack, and in other material forms. While encouraging this self-expression, we maintain a culture of unity at camp, including in our camper’s clothing and other material choice. Accordingly, all packed items for camp must follow these guidelines.
Clothing and other material items must be free of:
Any specific politicians and campaign slogans and imagery.
Text or images that discriminate against federally protected classes (race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age, or disability).
Depictions/implications of explicit or illegal material (sexual acts, promotion of violence, or controlled substances).
Clothing and other material items must:
Allow for safe and comfortable participation in any camp activity and be appropriate for an outdoor active setting.
Provide full coverage of private areas with minimal need for adjustment; campers must be able to move freely without fear of private areas being exposed.
Swimwear must:
Be of an athletic style without string fasteners and functional for an active waterfront setting
Be sturdy and firmly attached without fear of parts breaking or falling down
While we respect the rights of the individual to express themselves through their attire choice, the camp administration reserves the right to restrict items that might offend others or promote items or subjects that are inconsistent with camp’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Prohibited Materials at Camp
When assisting your camper in packing for camp, note that the following items are prohibited on camp property; any camper found in possession of these materials will be immediately subject to dismissal:
Weapons of any kind, including: knives, firearms, bows and arrows, etc.
Electronic Devices, including: cell phones, video games, tablets, personal computers, smartwatches (including Gizmo), any other personal entertainment device
Camp focuses on allowing children the experience of our amazing natural setting free of distractions brought by electronics. The one exception is digital cameras that are not phones or connected to a data plan or Wi-Fi in any way. See also “Camper-Parent Communication” section regarding other policies specific to phones.
Fireworks, matches/lighters or any hazardous materials
Alcohol or tobacco in any form, including: vapes, juuls, chewing tobacco, etc.
Non-prescription (illegal) drugs, drug paraphernalia
Medications (prescription OR over the counter) not turned into the Health Hut at check-in
Any living thing, such as pets or plants
Skateboard/scooters
Any food or drink containing peanuts, nuts, or byproducts of these items (we are a peanut & nut-free camp)
Items that do not comply with the policies list in the “Dress Code” section
We highly recommend your camper does not bring the following items (Camp Greenville will not be held responsible for breakage or loss of any camper personal items brought to camp):
Anything that you or the camper would be upset if it became: scratched, stained, battered, broken, lost, or unrecognizable
Cash (unless bringing for adventure trips)
Jewelry/Valuables/Expensive Clothing
Shelf-stable candy & snacks (no gum, no nuts or peanuts) are permitted in camper cabins and care packages, but MUST be prepared in a sealable plastic container and kept to a minimum.
Healthcare & Medication Policies
Medication at Camp
All medications (both prescription AND over-the-counter) must be turned into the Health Center upon arrival at camp during check-in, and all medications a camper will take while at camp must also be included in a camper’s Health Form with correct dosages, administration times, and other relevant information. All medications (including over-the-counter medications, drops, creams, vitamins, supplements, melatonin, etc.) must be prescribed by a physician, and/or be accompanied by a dated physician’s note. When preparing your medications for camp, you will need to affix this prescription label/dated physician’s note to the prepared medication blister pack.
Campers are not permitted to keep any medications in their cabins or on their person. All camper medications will be dispensed by the camp healthcare staff or by the Trip Leaders while out on Adventure Trips. The only exception to this rule is emergency medications that are included in a camper’s Health Form and checked-in at the Health Hut during check-in.
During check-out, medication must be picked up at the Health Hut tent (located in the field at check-out) in order to be returned to the parent/guardian. We will not reach out to you if you forget your camper’s medication at camp. It is illegal to send prescription drugs through the U.S. mail system; should you realize you have forgotten your camper’s medication at camp, you will be required to pick this up in person if you would like it back. Should you forget a required medication at home for your camper during check-in, you will also be required to bring any forgotten medications in person to camp (no mailing medication).
If your camper is returning to YMCA Camp Greenville from a previous year and has taken medication at camp in the past, please be sure to review and update/remove/add medications from your camper’s Health Form to reflect your camper’s current medication administration needs.
Medication Administration Times
Nurses distribute medication only at the times indicated on a camper’s Health Form and on their properly labeled medication, and all medication administration is logged. If your camper is on adventure trip or away for their camp-out night, the Trip Leader will be responsible for administering medication; the medication will be specifically prepared and packaged for their trip by our healthcare staff, and the Trip Leaders will be advised on proper administration, including logging administration.
We administer medications four times daily (see our daily sample schedule for Base Camp for specific timings): breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bedtime. You will be asked to select from these times on your camper’s Health Form and must label your camper’s medication with this information. If your child takes medications that cannot be adjusted to fit our administration times, contact camper_services@ymcagreenville.org as soon as possible with the subject line, “Medication Administration Time Adjustment”. Include your camper’s name, session & program (specifically the one[s] they will take the medication during), the medication name, and time of administration requested.
OTC Meds at the Health Hut
The Health Hut has certain over-the-counter medications on hand each year for as-needed dispersal (an up-to-date list will be linked here in Spring 2027); you will be asked if any of these medications are NOT ALLOWED to be given to your camper on your camper’s Health Form. Be sure to select these items carefully. We ask that you DO NOT send any medications with your camper that we already have on hand at the Health Hut, unless they are daily, required medications, with a prescription from your physician.
Restrictions to Administration
Our Health Hut healthcare staff are approved to administer oral and topical medications ONLY. Medications that must be administered by injection or rectally will not be allowed at camp (with the exception of emergency epinephrine autoinjectors). If this presents a concern for your camper, please contact camper_services@ymcagreenville.org or call (864) 823-2043.
Medication Preparation
At check in, you will stop at the Health Hut to check-in all of your camper’s medication with our healthcare staff. No person (staff, campers, LDPs, etc.) on site is allowed to keep medication of any kind in their camper cabin or on their person/in their belongings. All medication must be kept in the Health Hut; the only exception to this rule is emergency medications that are included in a camper’s Health Form and checked-in at the Health Hut during check-in, then provided to the camper or camper’s staff to keep with the camper at all times.
ALL medications (prescription and over-the-counter, including vitamins, supplements melatonin, creams, drops, etc.) MUST be prepared according to the following instructions, or they will not be accepted at camp.
Pills - Capsules, tablets, caplets, gummies, chewables, etc.
We require that all pill-style medication (both prescriptions, and prescribed OTC medications) is brought to camp in blister packs, which are prepared prior to camp arrival by the parent. Blister packs are individualized, pre-packaged doses of medication, the preparation of which, by parents, provides several benefits:
Improved Safety: Each dose is clearly labeled, reducing the risk of medication errors
Enhanced Efficiency: Our check-in procedures are expedited and medical staff can administer medications more swiftly and accurately
Compliance: This system allows us comply with state regulations and best practices in camp healthcare.
We have created easy-to-follow instructions for preparing blister packs for camp here. We do require a particular style blister pack, which is linked within the instructions; these are typically only orderable online (you will not find these in a local drugstore), and can take some time to reach you depending on the time of year ordered. You will need to order & purchase these blister packs and prepare your camper’s medication with enough time so that they are ready to go on arrival at camp. Please plan accordingly.
All blister packs must contain ONE SINGLE TYPE OF MEDICATION PER PACK. No doubling up medications in a single pack.
Medications will not be accepted unless they are properly prepared as instructed above, and accurately conveyed in the camper’s Health Forms. Again, we CANNOT accept medications without a prescription (even over-the-counter medications require a prescription label or official dated note from a physician affixed to the blister packaging).
Other Medications - Creams, nose drops, eye drops, etc.
Prescribed and unexpired creams, drops, and similar medications must come to camp in their original container with the prescription label attached. Over-the-counter creams & drops must be prescribed by a physician and/or have a physician’s note accompanying it when turning into the Health Hut.
Medications will not be accepted unless they are properly prepared as instructed above, and accurately conveyed in the camper’s Health Forms. Again, we CANNOT accept medications without a prescription (even over-the-counter medications require a prescription label or official dated note from a physician affixed).
Emergency Medications - Inhalers, Neffy’s, Epinephrine Auto-Injectors, emergency seizure medication, etc.
Inhalers, Neffy’s, Ephinephrine Auto-injectors, emergency seizure medication, and other emergency medications must be prescribed, unexpired, and must come to camp in their original container with the prescription label attached.
Note for inhalers — your inhaler box may have had the original prescription label attached, but not your actual inhaler. In this case, you MUST bring the box with the original prescription label alongside your inhaler, or request a new prescription label from the pharmacy and affix directly to your inhaler.
All emergency medications MUST be turned in to/checked in at the Health Hut along with all other medications; these emergency medications will then immediately be returned back to the camper to keep on their person for the duration of camp.
Medications will not be accepted unless they are properly prepared as instructed above, and accurately conveyed in the camper’s Health Forms. Again, we CANNOT accept medications without a prescription (even over-the-counter medications require a prescription label or official dated note from a physician affixed)
If you arrive at camp with a medication that is not listed on the Health Form or on the Health & Medication Change form, is not packaged properly, or is not prescribed by a physician with evidence to support this (i.e., a prescription label/dated physician’s note affixed to the blister pack) it will not be accepted, and you will be asked to take the medication with you off-site.
Healthcare at Camp
Our state-of-the-art and well-equipped Health Hut is staffed with a healthcare professional along with our Health Center Coordinator 24/7 while camp is in session. In addition, our summer staff and much of our full-time staff are First Aid/CPR trained and certified. Our health care team’s primary responsibility is distributing daily and as-needed medications, but they are also in the Health Hut and on camp at all times should any medical concerns arise.
We will call you should any medical situation arise at camp that goes beyond normal first aid. This includes a worsening injury or sickness, spending more than one night in the infirmary, any required medical visits outside of camp, and other conditions that may require additional attention or may have escalated in severity.
Treatment Escalation Procedure
If your child acquires a minor injury/illness (cuts, scrapes, bug bites, headache, etc.), our staff will treat the injury/illness according to their treatment certification level and with your camper’s approved OTC medications as outlined in their Health Form.
If your child is injured/ill and it is not life-threatening (strains, sprains, persistent but mild injury/illness), we will treat the injury/illness and will contact you as needed to discuss your camper’s condition & progression, additional treatment plan(s), and if there is recommendation for further/outside medical attention. If further medical attention is advised, you will be asked if you would like to come and pick your camper up to take them to their doctor, or we can transport them to a local urgent care utilizing the insurance you provided on your Health Form.
If a life-threatening issue should arise, we will immediately contact emergency personnel and will call you as soon as we are able thereafter.
When medical situations do arise, know that we do everything we can to allow the camper to continue their week of camp.
If your camper has any special medical conditions or concerns that need to be managed at camp that are not outlined here, please reach out to camper_services@ymcagreenville.org ahead of registering to discuss with our camp directors and help us to create the best experience for your camper.
Health Forms
For each registered camper, a Health Form must be completed via the Parent Portal. This form is accessible via the “Forms & Documents” section of the Parent Portal. These forms must be completed within the designated forms completion period of time established for the given camp season (usually April/May) in order for our healthcare staff to be able to review all health information and reach out to individuals as needd. We required various health information within the Health Form, including your camper’s vaccinations, medications, etc., as well as several parent signatures & acknowledgements. We do not require any specific vaccinations for camp, but highly recommend entering this information into your camper’s Health Form in order for our nurses to best serve your camper. We do not accept We do not require a physician to sign your health form, nor do we require a physical exam by a physician prior to camp.
We ask all parents to complete your camper’s Health Forms to the best of your ability and including all relevant information (please do not withhold any health information as this can hinder your child’s camp experience). Please be thorough and honest in preparing your camper’s health forms. Sharing the full scope of your camper’s current health and health history will help us to ensure your camper’s success at camp, as well as the success of their peers. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your camper’s health at camp, please contact camper_services@ymcagreenville.org.
If you have previously completed a Health Form for your camper during a previous year they attended Camp Greenville, you still must review your camper’s health form for any subsequent years, update the information accordingly, and submit. Much of the information you entered in previous years will cycle over and will autopopulate the form, so please review this information carefully before submitting. If your camper is returning to YMCA Camp Greenville from a previous year and has taken medication at camp in the past, please be sure to review and update/remove/add medications from your camper’s Health Form to reflect your camper’s current medication administration needs.
There will be “Medication/Health Change” Form made available prior to your camper’s session start into which you may enter any changes to your camper’s health or medication procedures after the main Health Form closes but before camp start. This form will close on the Friday at noon prior to your camper’s session.
