Introducing…Maggie!

We’re so happy to introduce the newest member of our year-round camp team, Maggie Hennessy! Maggie joins the team as our Camp Admin & Communications Manager.

Maggie has loved camp since she first attended YMCA Camp AGQ in Northern Michigan as a camper at age 8. Her love only grew as she went on to serve as a Counselor in Training, Junior Staff member, and eventually a full summer staff member, where she took on a variety of roles and grew both personally and professionally. Maggie has served in just about every area around camp, including as an activity area specialist for climbing wall and zipline, as the Junior Staff Director, as Camp Registrar, and in the kitchen as Head Chef and Kitchen Director, with an emphasis on allergy specialization. At all times in camp & beyond, Maggie works to advocate for herself, her fellow staff, and the parents & campers she works with each day.

Maggie brings a particularly unique perspective into the communications space: with an M.Ed. and Ed.S. in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University, Maggie’s experience in the counseling space has shaped her especially empathetic approach to this new role. Maggie is also a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and has worked at a behavioral health center with children, teens, and adults, and also has held a private practice specializing in chronic illness and grief.

We are so so excited to welcome in Maggie’s passion for the camping experience and impressive background to Camp Greenville! Maggie’s excited, too, to already be communicating with families and helping share how impactful camp can be in the lives of their children.

When not work, Maggie loves doing anything and everything with her golden retriever, Maisie, cooking, and wake surfing on Lake Keowee.
