Easter Sunrise Service 2023
YMCA Camp Greenville staff, board members, volunteers, friends of camp, and thousands of online viewers enjoyed our sunrise service on Easter morning. Cory Harrison, our Executive Director at Camp Greenville, gave the Resurrection Sunday message at Pretty Place Chapel as the sun rose over the hills Easter morning.
DQ Selected for Emerging Global Leaders Institute
Our Director of Leadership Programs, De-Quan “DQ” Williams, is one of 25 YMCA leaders nominated and accepted into the Emerging Global Leaders Institute (EGLI). This cohort-based experience encourages emerging YMCA leaders to develop the skills to enhance the YMCA’s ability to positively impact our increasingly diverse communities.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Camp Greenville is honored to have become accredited last fall with Praesidium, a leading organization committed to helping other organizations prevent and protect against child abuse. The YMCA of Greenville is one of 10 Y’s nationwide and Camp Greenville is one of 6 Y resident camps nationwide to achieve this standard of accreditation.
Volunteer Work Day
Saturday, April 1 started off with high winds and rain but that didn’t stop our 34 volunteers, which included camp families, board members, summer staff, and LDPs, from rolling up their sleeves and getting to work. Our volunteers spent the day prepping our camp for upcoming events and summer camp.

First Signs of Spring at Camp
You might imagine that the first signs of spring at camp are singing birds, chirping spring peepers, or bright green leaves budding from the trees. But, believe it or not, the first signs of spring on our mountain happen even before these much-anticipated nature milestones. We’re always planning ahead for the arrival of a new season. Our first signs of spring include things like new maintenance equipment, landscaping, and painting!
April is Autism Awareness Month
Did you know we offer spring and fall family camp weekends for families with members on the Autism Spectrum? Our “Spectrum Family Camp” provides structured and safe opportunities for families to bounce, splash, sing, hike, play, cartwheel, and explore together.

Now Hiring - Kitchen Staff!
Our camp Dining Hall is the hub of the camp experience. All campers and staff visit the dining hall 3 times each day for healthy and fun meals to fuel their adventures. Kitchen staff assist cooks in preparing meals, set up serving areas such as salad bar and cereal area, serve food, and clean up after each meal.

When Fire Is a Friend: Prescribed Burns at Camp

Upgrade to Temporary Restrooms at Pretty Place
The Pretty Place Chapel parking lot now features 3 new “event style” port-a-potties, which are considered an upgrade from the previous style in the world in portable/temporary restrooms. The larger of the three individual stalls meet ADA compliance as an accessible option.

In early February, Adventure Guides dads “suited up!” and daughters brought the glitz and glamor to our annual Daddy + Daughter dance! In total, 138 attendees participated in the family fun evening, hosted at Unity Park - Prisma Welcome Center.
Summer Staff Hiring in Mexico
De-Quan Williams, Director of Leadership Programs, (pictured here with summer staffer Karla Reyes) has returned to Camp Greenville from an international staff hiring event in Mexico which gives U.S. camp directors the opportunity to meet face-to-face with international staff applicants and even offer summer positions on-the-spot.
Recap: Trailblazers Ski Trip
In late January, Division 2 Trailblazers (5th + 6th graders) families attended the annual ski trip at the Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, NC.

The Adventure Program is an outdoor wilderness experience that spends time away from our camp property for the majority of each session. Coordinates and leads offsite trips for groups of 15. Training provided.
Now Hiring - Boys Cabin Leaders!
Male cabin leaders live with the campers in a cabin and guide them through a week-long experience while supporting all their physical, social, and emotional needs. Training provided.
