Jenna Johnson Promoted to Executive Director
YMCA Camp Greenville is pleased to announce that Jenna Johnson has been named Executive Director. As Jenna completes her 11th summer on the mountain, her commitment to camp remains as strong as ever.
Jenna began her career in youth development for a Colorado city Parks and Recreation Department. While there, she had the life changing realization that a career in overnight camping was possible. Jenna followed her camp dream to Iowa and then to Camp Greenville in 2014 where she started as the Summer Camp Director and then eventually the Associate Executive Director.
Over the past year, Camp Greenville has also experienced several year-round leadership transitions. Naturally, this may raise the question of why. The simple answer is opportunity. Each staff member who moved on did so to pursue their next adventure—whether gaining new and different experiences, lending their skills to another camp in need of strong leadership, or following a passion more closely aligned with their goals.
Working year-round at camp is more than a job; it is being part of a close-knit community. Each departure has been bittersweet, filled with gratitude and pride for the contributions these leaders made during their time on the mountain. Camp Greenville is proud to have been part of their journey and to see their impact extend far beyond camp.
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “It’s not how many followers you have but how many leaders you create.” Camp Greenville has long been blessed with exceptional leaders, and it is inspiring to watch them grow, thrive, and share their gifts in new ways. That cycle is a testament to the strength of the camp’s legacy.
This is an exciting chapter for Camp Greenville. Incredible things lie ahead, and the year-round team looks forward to welcoming new members and sharing future updates with families, alumni, and friends. The continued belief in and support of the camp community remain the foundation that makes this place so special.
I am deeply honored and humbled to continue my time at camp in this new capacity. As I wrap up my 11th summer, one truth remains constant; this is a special place, made so by the people who are a part of it. Camp Greenville has an important and incredible legacy, and I am grateful for the opportunity to honor our past, care for our present, and help shape our future.
— Jenna Johnson, Executive Director
Jenna lives on camp property with her husband Kyle, son Daxton, and their dog Ames. Jenna likes to spend her non-camp time hiking, reading, or traveling with her family. Her favorite part of the camp week is closing campfire, favorite activity is anything at the waterfront, and her favorite meal is outdoor cookout because it brings the best summer backyard hang out vibes!
Please join us in congratulating Jenna in her new role!
