At YMCA Camp Greenville, each fun filled day provides the opportunity for new adventures - allowing everyone the chance to grow and develop. Staff members bring energy and excitement to a program of challenging and creative outdoor activities for their campers. In the role of camp counselor you will be developing and demonstrating values like honesty, caring, respect, responsibility and leadership - characteristics which are highly regarded by future employers.  

Who are these jobs for?

Summer positions at YMCA Camp Greenville are for hard working, enthusiastic people who enjoy fun and fellowship. It is work for dedicated individuals who have a sincere desire to teach children and have a positive impact on their lives. The work is demanding of your time, energy and emotions, and requires a great deal of self-motivation, patience, and creativity. It takes the kind of person who can have a positive attitude - anywhere at anytime! Camp Greenville requires that all staff members be certified in First Aid and CPR in order to maintain a strong commitment to safety.

What are we looking for?

Staff come from throughout the United States and from around the world. Staff are, without question, the key to happy and healthy campers and a successful summer camp. We are looking for those very special individuals who enjoy and have the skills to work with children in the camp setting - 24 hours a day.

Job Title

Desirable Qualifications

Counselor

  1. Rising college freshman or older

  2. Experience working with children

  3. Ability to teach outdoor skills, sports, arts and crafts, and/or aquatics, etc.  Life guarding certificate a plus!

Adventure Specialist & Resource Staff

  1. Rising college junior or older

  2. Experience working with children

  3. Certification or  documented experience (Life guarding, WFR/WFA, Swift Water Rescue, Rock climbing, back country trip leading, etc.)

  4. Program planning skills

  5. Supervisory skills

Division Leader & Administrative Staff

  1. Rising college senior or older

  2. Strong leadership skills

  3. Supervisory experience

  4. Commitment to working with children

  5. Camping experience, specifically in Arts and Crafts, Waterfront, Challenge Course, Horseback riding, or event planning, etc.

  • 2010 Junior Counselor Application  - Note: We are no longer accepting applications for Junior Counselor staff.  This application is for rising Senior's in High School who would like to spend an unforgettable summer in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
    • 2010 Camp Staff Application - This application is for new applicants to Camp Greenville or a returning staff member who has not worked at Camp Greenville in the last 12 month. Note: Due to the large amount of applications received, we are no longer accepting applications for FEMALE counselor staff. 

    • 2010 Returning Staff Application - This application is for a former staff member who has worked at Camp Greenville within the last 12 months. Note: Due to the large amount of applications received, we are no longer accepting applications for FEMALE counselor staff.
