After not returning to “Camp” in 1969 in order to marry Julia Taylor, the Gaines finally arrived to Will’s long desired full time life in the Blue Ridge mountains after 34 years on the outside of paradise. Over the years, Willis has kept up with Bill Bell, Roger Jones, Jody Welker, the Brearly brothers – Bill and John and Bob – Carl Anderson and others. While serving as Associate Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, SC, he renewed ties with Steve and Linda Bunch. Linda’s parents are members of that church. Jim Coleman and Dick Swetenburg, two outstanding Clemson athletes of their day and Great Boys to boot, served on the session of that congregation. From 1996 – 2003 Willis served the Bishopville Presbyterian Church where the legacy of the Brearley family took root generations ago as well as the families of Johnny English and our beloved “Sally” Weldon of Burgess Glen. Having many occasions to visit Charleston over the past decade, Willis renewed camp ties with his swimming teacher and one-time senior counselor, the Right Reverend William J. Skilton. Bishop Skilton is ever as great a guy as he was years ago, an easy friend to have and a great pastor. It’s great to be a Great Boy!  Email: awganz@bellsouth.net [Posted: [2005-08-22]
